User Research in Yorkshire

Usability testing, UX research and patient and public involvement (PPIE) for organisations across Yorkshire. We are based in Wetherby, Leeds, so York, Harrogate, Sheffield and the rest of the county are close enough to do properly, in the room where that helps.

Usability Testing PPIE & PPI UX Research Healthcare & Digital In-person & Remote

A Yorkshire team, not a visiting one

Plenty of agencies will fly a researcher in for a day. The trouble is that Yorkshire is not one place. A Leeds product team, a York housing association, a Sheffield NHS trust and a Harrogate charity have little in common except the postcode area, and the research looks different for each.

We know the region, we recruit from it, and we can reach most of it in under two hours. That makes in-person work practical: usability sessions in your office, workshops in a community venue, interviews in a participant's own home.

Outside Yorkshire the work carries on remotely, with the same people and the same standard.

Where we work in Yorkshire

Every service is available across the county. What changes from place to place is travel time and how quickly we can recruit locally.

West Yorkshire

Leeds, Bradford & Wakefield

Our home patch. In-person sessions carry no real travel cost, and local recruitment is quickest here. Digital teams, NHS organisations and the public sector make up most of the work.

North Yorkshire

York, Harrogate & Wetherby

Wetherby is where we are based, with Harrogate and York both within easy reach. A good fit for local authority consultation, healthcare PPIE, and heritage, tourism and professional services businesses.

South Yorkshire

Sheffield, Rotherham & Doncaster

Close enough for in-person work at short notice, with participant recruitment across South Yorkshire. Remote UX audits suit teams that do not need participants.

East Yorkshire & the coast

Hull, Scarborough & beyond

Further out, so we plan in-person days around a fixed schedule and quote travel separately. Many projects here work well as a hybrid, with interviews remote and workshops on site.

When it is worth being in the room

Remote research is often the better choice: quicker to recruit, cheaper to run, and people behave naturally at home. We use it a lot.

In-person earns its place when the participants are older or less confident online, when the product has a physical side, when the topic is sensitive, or when a group needs to work something out together. Being in Yorkshire means we can offer that without adding a travel bill that makes it unrealistic.

If you are not sure which suits your project, tell us what you need to learn and we will say plainly which we would pick and why.

Common questions about user research in Yorkshire

Where in Yorkshire can you run research in person?

We are based in Wetherby, Leeds, so Leeds, York, Harrogate and the rest of West Yorkshire are a short journey with no real travel cost. Sheffield and South Yorkshire, Hull and the coast, and the Dales and Moors are all workable for in-person sessions. For anything further out we quote travel separately and often suggest a remote or hybrid design.

Can you recruit Yorkshire participants?

Yes. We recruit through community networks, local panels and our own participant community, The Collective, and we can screen for demographics, health conditions, professional roles and digital behaviours. If your audience is Yorkshire specific, such as patients of a particular trust or customers of a regional business, we recruit for that directly.

Do I need to be in Yorkshire to work with you?

No. Most of our projects run remotely, and clients in London, Manchester, Birmingham and elsewhere get the same research, recruitment and reporting. Being in Yorkshire matters when the research needs us in the room, which is common in healthcare, community and PPIE work.

How much does user research in Yorkshire cost?

Usability testing projects start from £5,500, core studies typically run from £9,500, and comprehensive multi-session programmes from £16,000. PPIE and larger programmes are quoted on scope. Participant incentives, recruitment, facilitation, analysis and a findings report are included, and venue hire is quoted separately where it applies.

We fully recognise the effort your team invested in recruitment, moderation, and analysis, and we genuinely appreciate the quality of the discussions and reporting.
